Ali Ross

Ali is an attorney, published author, and English literature aficionado. After four years of private practice as a litigator, she is excited to return to the AR team to coach students to reading and writing mastery.

In her junior year of high school, Ali scored in the 99th percentile of test-takers nationwide on the verbal sections of both her SAT and ACT. She went on to graduate with honors from Vassar College in 2009, where she majored in Women’s Studies and sang opera, performing at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall.

Following her undergraduate degree, Ali attended the USC Gould School of Law, where she received multiple High Honors awards for earning the highest grade in her classes, including Legal Writing and Civil Procedure. She graduated at the top of her class and passed the California Bar Exam on her first attempt.

In the same way that she spots issues in a case, she has a knack for honing in on exactly what students need to maximize their test scores. Ali is known for her visual diagrams of grammar rules, funny examples to make concepts stick, and reading comprehension tricks that simplify even the toughest texts. Her warm, easily approachable personality makes sessions enjoyable and engaging, creating an environment where students feel at ease. She wants every student to leave feeling more confident in their test taking skills and, ideally, to discover his or her literary voice in the process.
